Archdiocesan Annual Appeal 2008: Together in Mission Commitment Weekend

This weekend, is Commitment Weekend. The funds collected are used exclusively to help parishes and schools that need a subsidy to continue their mission to serve their people.

St. Bernard School presently receives $25,000 each year from Together in Mission.

I thank all those who enabled us last year to reach our parish goal. I encourage all to support Together in Mission with a generous pledge/donation. Our parish goal for this year is $37,262. Pledge cards are in the pews. Payments can be made over the next five or six months. Thank you.
By the time you read this bulletin, work should have already begun to renovate the baptismal area of the church. This project is to bring it into line with present liturgical guidelines. When completed there will be flowing water and the space for baptisms by immersion. The present baptismal font will be retained.

Today we begin Catholic School Week. We celebrate the gift of our Catholic School and thank all those who help St. Bernard School to continue its mission.

Archdiocesan Annual Appeal 2008: Together in Mission - A Time for Reflection

This week you are asked to read and reflect upon the Together in Mission materials in the bulletin today. Those of you who receive the archdiocesan newspaper The Tidings will receive more information about the campaign in this week’s edition.

Together in Mission provides substantial financial support to parishes and schools in less affluent areas of Los Angeles and other areas of the archdiocese. These parishes and schools provide education, ministry and a Catholic presence for tens of thousands of people.

Sometimes it is difficult to envision how your pledge can help so many people, but it does. To see how, please review the materials and read the statements of those whose parishes and schools receive support.

The theme of the campaign is “See the Bounty of the Lord” Psalm 27:13. Together in Mission provides an opportunity to show our concern for those served by the parishes and schools that need your financial support.

If you received your pledge form in the mail, complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. Also, we will conduct our annual Together in Mission in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend and the following weekend.

As always, what you give should be given in gratitude for what God has given to you.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.
